Adult ADHD treatment, by video, across New York.

Evaluation, diagnosis, and ongoing treatment for adults with ADHD, from a psychiatric nurse practitioner who has focused on adult ADHD for more than 10 years.

What adult ADHD can look like

ADHD in adults rarely looks like the hyperactive kid stereotype. More often it shows up as a pattern you've lived with for years:

  • Starting things easily but struggling to finish them
  • Losing track of time, running late, or missing deadlines despite real effort
  • Getting pulled off task by email, your phone, or your own thoughts
  • Putting off important tasks until the last minute, then scrambling
  • Forgetting appointments, bills, or things people told you
  • Feeling restless, impatient, or mentally "on" all the time
  • Working twice as hard as others to keep up, and feeling exhausted by it

Many adults are diagnosed for the first time in their 20s, 30s, or later, often when work, a new job, or parenting adds more demands than their old coping strategies can handle.

How an ADHD evaluation works

I diagnose ADHD myself. Your 60-minute initial evaluation by video covers:

  • Your current symptoms and how they affect work, school, relationships, and daily routines
  • Your history, including childhood, since ADHD starts early even when it's noticed late
  • Other things that can look like ADHD or come along with it, such as anxiety, depression, sleep problems, or substance use
  • Your medical history and current medications, so any treatment is safe for you

By the end, you'll know what I think is going on and what I recommend. If we need more information, we'll make a plan to get it.

Already diagnosed or tested?

If you have an ADHD diagnosis or a psychological or neuropsychological testing report, bring it. I'll review it and build on it rather than starting from scratch. More for people coming from testing →

What treatment looks like

Treatment is built around your goals: what you need to be able to do, and when. For most adults that includes medication, and I'll walk you through the options and their trade-offs. We'll also talk through practical strategies for the parts of ADHD that medication doesn't fix on its own.

After the first visit, follow-ups are 30 minutes and usually monthly. How ADHD medication management works →

ADHD with anxiety or depression

ADHD often comes with anxiety, depression, or both, and sometimes one is mistaken for another. I treat these too, so you don't need separate clinicians for each.

Telehealth across New York

All visits are by secure video, so you can be seen from home or work anywhere in New York State, from Manhattan and Brooklyn to Westchester, Long Island, and upstate. I'm also licensed in Florida, so care can continue if you spend part of the year there.

Questions about ADHD evaluation

Do I need an ADHD diagnosis before booking?

No. I diagnose ADHD myself as part of the initial evaluation. If you've already been diagnosed, or you have a psychological or neuropsychological testing report, I'm glad to review it and pick up from there.

Can a nurse practitioner diagnose ADHD and prescribe ADHD medication in New York?

Yes. In New York, psychiatric nurse practitioners can evaluate and diagnose ADHD and prescribe ADHD medication, including stimulants and other controlled medications, when it's clinically appropriate. I'm a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner licensed in New York and Florida.

How long is an ADHD evaluation?

The initial evaluation is 60 minutes by video. If we need more information, such as old school records or input from someone who knows you well, we can follow up after.

Where do I need to be during my appointment?

You need to be physically located in New York or Florida, where I'm licensed, at the time of each video visit. Many patients split time between the two states, and care can continue in either one.
